A Voice. A Passion. A Purpose.
My love for music began at the tender age of five, and what started as a childhood passion grew into a lifelong journey of singing, performing, and sharing my gift with others.
I’m Alisha Jones, a Gospel and R&B recording artist whose musical foundation was built through years of vocal training, dedication, and faith. I attended Arts High School in Newark, New Jersey, as a vocal major and studied voice for 15 years at the Newark Community School of the Arts under the guidance of my beloved voice teacher, Nadine Herman. My training also included classical and operatic techniques that continue to influence my performances today.
My journey in music also includes serving as Choir Director at Messiah Baptist Church in East Orange, New Jersey, for nine years, as well as President of the Youth Choir. Those years helped shape not only my musical abilities but also my leadership skills and love for encouraging others through music.
Throughout my musical journey, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to sing for celebrated entertainers, including Keshia Knight Pulliam, Phylicia Rashad, and Savion Glover, known for his extraordinary tap-dancing talent and his role in The Tap Dance Kid.
My performance experience extends beyond the church and recording studio. I’ve graced several festival stages, including the Annapolis Seafood Festival in Annapolis, Maryland, and performed at the historic Newark Symphony Hall in Newark, New Jersey. This legendary entertainment venue has welcomed major artists such as Queen Latifah, Whitney Houston, and Patti LaBelle. Having the opportunity to perform on a stage with such a rich musical legacy is an experience I truly appreciate.
I’ve also had the honor of performing the National Anthem at Rutgers University and during the Atlantic City Marathon, sharing my voice with audiences at memorable events.
Beyond the microphone, I’m a radio personality, producer, author, and advocate for independent artists. Through my platform, Chopping It Up with Queen Alisha, and WKKW Internet Radio, I continue to create opportunities for artists to share their stories and music with audiences around the world.
As a recording artist, my music reflects my faith, my life experiences, and my passion for connecting with people. Whether I’m singing Gospel or R&B, I believe music has the power to inspire, encourage, heal, and bring people together.
I’m not just singing songs. I’m sharing a lifetime of experiences through my voice.
Welcome to my musical journey. I’m so glad you’re here!
